Biography

Beyond my expertise in law, Performance is my aspiration.

I care about the outcome of my working assignments and its impact on the business and reputation of my clients, international players of the ICT industry across Europe. 

Working side-by side as part of my clients’ teams and blowing the line between Legal and Business, while preserving integrity, make me smile and enthusiastic. 

I feel personal excitement for the transforming impact of digital technology and connectivity on the management side of law. 

I care about the future of law, training law students for an increased “sense of business purpose” and non-legal stakeholders for a stronger legal awareness. 

My contribution is C-level-compatible, authentic, transparent, accessible to all stakeholders, feedback-receptive and independent without any restrictions from being associated to an organization, be it internal or external. 

I like to collaborate with clients sharing similar preferences for collaborative and innovative ways of working.

What do I do?

Strategic & Commercial Advice on Contractual and Intellectual Property Matters

Multilingual negotiator (French, English, German, Spanish, all fluent) and deal maker of many types and complexity degrees, including big ticket projects, with extensive use of project management, mediation and moderation tools. Focus on honest and smart negotiation practices, as well as on building open relationships with customers, suppliers,  partners and shareholders for long-term value. Strong contract drafting ability with less focus on risk allocation and adversarial terms (e.g. indemnities, liability, liquidated damages) and more on business critical terms (e.g. proper scoping, responsibility matrix, payment terms, time commitments, service levels and KPIs) and relational mechanisms (e.g. contractual governance, change control). Relentlessly striving for success from pre-signature to complete project achievement. Claim & litigation management with a focus on achieving business targets.

Educate law students at junior and Master level on contractual law and contracting engineering with a strong sense of purpose, focusing on the Why – i.e. the business - before on the What and the How – i.e. the legal expertise and technic - providing basic knowledge on non-legal essential methods and tools, such as business processes, project management, and moderation. Train non-legal stakeholders for a stronger legal awareness and make legal knowledge easily understandable to business decision-makers.

Securing Efficient Legal & Contract Management Operations in line with the Legal Function's Strategy

Demonstrate the performance through metrics and KPIs and secure the value of the legal function's contribution to the business. Improve partnerships with external counsels and service providers through state-of-the-art engagement models for costs and quality optimization. Formulate and improve maturity of policies and business processes associated with the legal function - e.g. Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) processes. Improve productivity and efficiency of legal operations through digitization and the rollout and implementation of technology such as contract automation and digital contract management.

Interact with peers in the industry on efficient approaches for achieving better and fair contractual performance, via for example "Speed-to-Contract" and "Fair First" targets, for transforming legal, contracts and company secretarial departments, as well as for promoting modern legal leaders in business. On a volunteer basis, active member and regular referent on conferences of the International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM), the Liquid Legal Institute and other professional associations.

My assignments are highly tailored to each particular client organization, its unique situation and the goals of both its business leaders and stakeholders in complex technology and commercial contexts.
I like to take a project approach, starting with goals, action steps, success measures and a timeline. I also provide consulting advice and work as interim. I look for transparency on the business context and its dynamics. This is how I secure that my contribution is efficient, committed, strategy-focused, solution-oriented and impactful for my clients. I am acting as a fully integrated part of my clients' teams, reserving spaces full of interactions, energy, engagement and curiosity. I like to embrace the constraints of the regulatory framework using creative thinking with a true sense of purpose to meet my clients' needs.
